Watershed Conservation Resource Center

The primary activity of the organization is to provide technical and planning services for the protection, conservation, and restoration of watershed resources for the well being of communities and society.

The Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC) provides specialized assistance concerning watershed resource issues to a variety of organizations including; watershed groups; local, state and federal governments; non-profit organizations; conservation districts; and other entities that request assistance.

The diverse environmental background and experience of the staff enable the WCRC to provide a wide range of technical and planning support.

~The U of A Community Design Center’s Framework Plan for Watershed Conservation Resource Center’s Riverine Commons and Institute received a citation in the 2023 Progressive Architecture Awards. The project was featured in the March issue of Architect Magazine.

~Nonpoint Source Success Story: Restoration Project Reduce Sediment in the West Fork White River(WFWR). In 2016 WCRC was awarded a $4.3 million NRCS Regional Conservation Partnership Program grant with an additional $4.4 million of match provided by local partners to improve conditions in the WFWR watershed. WCRC is working with the University of Arkansas Community Design Center (UACDC) who was awarded a National Endowment of Arts grant to develop a Public Access Master Plan. news.uark.edu/articles
