Rock Creek East – West Fork, Arkansas

Before

After

The Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC) partnered with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the family along Rock Creek East, to complete a streambank and habitat restoration on a 250-ft eroding streambank on Rock Creek.  The site is located in Washington County between the towns of Greenland and West Fork.  Rock Creek is a tributary of the West Fork of the White River (WFWR), which flows into Beaver Lake, the primary drinking water source for over 500,000 residents of Northwest Arkansas.  The WFWR was recently delisted from the state of Arkansas’ 303(d) list of impaired waterways with the former main cause of water quality issues being turbidity from surface erosion.  Construction on the restoration began in September 2022 and concluded in November 2022.
