Mullins Branch at UofA Phase 2

Before

After

The Watershed Conservation Resource Center (WCRC) was contacted by McClelland Consulting Engineers to perform the professional services required to develop a stream restoration plan for 800 feet of Mullins Branch that flows along and to the west of the University of Arkansas Soccer Complex and generally east of parking lot 56. The goal of the project is to restore a section of Mullins Creek and integrate Low Impact Development (LID) techniques by retrofitting an impervious parking area adjacent to the stream.  Mullins Creek is a headwater stream in the West Fork White River watershed and it flows through the University of Arkansas campus. The project will build on previous, successful stream restorations implemented including: Phase I – Mullins Creek upstream of the proposed project area and Phase II – Bulldog Branch, a tributary that flows to Mullins Creek. In addition, public access to the highly visible stream and riparian areas will be a priority, so people can enjoy the natural environment while learning about ecosystems, aquatic habitat, LID, and native vegetation.
